Asset Type

Reported by Frederico Boaventura | February 13th, 2009 @ 04:22 PM

Within an organization, you must make risk analysis of all the types of assets. Being so, there should be a "asset type" field and the particular fields of each type.

i.e.:

Asset Type: Network Equipment Fields: Type (switch, ap, router, etc), MAC Address, IP Address, Vendor, Model, OS, Version, etc.

Asset Type: Software Fields: Vendor, Version, Licenses

Asset Type: Server Fields: Vendor, OS, OS Version, Harddisk, Memory, Processor, etc.

It would add an extra level of complexity that I don't know if its really good. My idea with crisk is to be very flexible, you can add generic assets that can range from physical stuff to information or documents. To keep that and add 'asset type' I would have to create a 'Type Editor' with enough flexibility to add custom fields and etc... And right now I think I can use the time to improve other areas. I will keep the idea on hold for future versions, though
